1 Chronicles 28:9 - God Rays
Step 1: Pray. Select.
Today, as I began my prayer time, I had to move my location and prayer posture to ensure I was opening myself up and fully surrendering to what the Holy Spirit wanted me to hear today. Friends, sometimes we need to switch things up a bit to avoid being ritualistic and continue to be led by the Spirit of Christ, so the Holy Spirit can flow through you.
Once I finally settled in, the Holy Spirit led me to research scripture on God's omniscience. As I did this, 1 Chronicles 28:9 stood out amongst the other scriptures.
This is where we begin our journey today, friends.
Step 2: Write. Read. Circle
After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:
1 Chronicles 28:9 - “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.
Step 3: Re-Write
With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart.
Jennifer, as for you with a loyal heart, He will be found.
If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.
Step 4: Visualize
I close my eyes in my new prayer posture and picture a cloudy sky with rain-filled clouds overhead. The sun is trying to peak through, but it struggles due to the clouds' density.
I am holding my prayer position on my knees, head bowed low, and waiting to hear the LORD's voice. I do not talk, or mutter a word, and despite the rain that might come, or distracting thoughts, I fight to stay focused in this moment. I stay kneeling and waiting, desperate for an encounter with the LORD and clarity on His direction over my life.
As I continue to focus on Him, listening for Him with my eyes closed, the clouds above begin to shift.
Suddenly, I feel the warmth of the sun pouring over my back.
As I open my eyes, I see beautiful God rays burst through the openings of the clouds and the Holy Spirit lets me know that with each ray, there is a person just like me, on their knees, longing for an encounter, praying and receiving his warmth as well. The Holy Spirit reveals the sunbeam shining down like a spotlight on me is my special light. The LORD sees me. It confirms that he hears me and knows my desire to loyally hear and spend time with him.
The Holy Spirit also tells me that while the clouds only temporarily darken the sky, with all the prayers going up, the clouds will clear to let the fullness of the LORD and his work on Earth shine brighter than ever before.
So friends, when you earnestly seek his presence, his voice, or see his face, have confidence that the rain clouds will pass, and the God rays will continue to shine down on you, keeping you safe at all times, even amid a storm. And remember, the more prayers that go up, the more breakthroughs we will see as the God rays reach down to touch Heaven with the Earth.
I have a question about what the Holy Spirit has revealed to me today, and I am ready to move to Step 5.
Step 5: Ask. Seek
The requests/questions that came to mind are:
Holy Spirit, help me understand that small shifts in my life are merely to let more God in. What shifts do I need to make to continue opening up the windows of Heaven to let more God rays through?
Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive
Here is the answer I received:
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God! Just when you think you are not having a breakthrough, or you do not have forward motion, look at the small changes. It could be your attitude, disciplining your flesh, opening up your perspective, or moving when he says move. These things change who you are and open you to what your Father can do. So be still, wait on the LORD, and know when you feel the warmth of the light on your back, Heaven is rejoicing at the rays of breakthrough where God can come down and touch you as a reward for your obedience to him, and seeking him first above all things. In this, he will clear a well-lit path through your prayers for you to follow. Remember, He has good plans for you."
Step 7: Pray. Confirm
Heavenly Father, I come to you through your son Jesus.
I ask that you tune my eyes, ears, and understanding to the small shifts and the large meaning behind them, in which you are working all things for my good. Thank you for reminding me of the plans you already have for me and letting me know I can rest in your protection and guidance.
Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to help guide me toward you today. Also, let me keep things fresh in my prayer life to ensure I always open myself for the Holy Spirit to flow through me.

I was touched at the thought of so many people praying and everyone having their own spotlight where the LORD shines down on them with warmth and a touch of Heaven.
Keep those prayers going! And pay attention to the small shifts coming down from Heaven, which will set you up for his blessings and plans.
Know He hears, sees, and examines our heart's desires, but make sure He is what we desire most. Stay loyal to Him, and he will remain loyal to you!
