John 14:26 - Trust The Helper

Step 1: Pray. Select.

This morning, as I began to pray, I thought about how many events must take place to lead us to any one point in our lives. I think about the people, places, and moments orchestrated to create a lasting impression along our journey of life.

As I came across John 14:26 I examined the nature of Jesus’s consideration to prepare his disciples for peace through what was going to happen.

Let’s begin our journey there today, friends.

Step 2: Write. Read. Circle

After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:

John 14:26 - But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Step 3: Re-Write

With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart.

  • Jennifer, the Helper, will teach things I said to you.

If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.

Step 4: Visualize

I close my eyes and begin to meditate on the words the Holy Spirit brought to life today from the scripture. I picture Jesus amid his disciples explaining to them that no matter how long they walk together, spend together, or commune together, there will never be enough time for all the wisdom he carries inside of him. It is infinite.

They are gathered around a campfire, and the warm glow from the flames of the fire highlights Jesus’s face like a spotlight as he gently and lovingly prepares them for the events about to take place.

He explains that he must go before his disciples in this chapter to prepare a way for them to join him in Heaven so they can continue to be together. The most important thing he wants them to focus on is that after he leaves, there will be a Helper, or the Holy Spirit, who will always be there to guide them on his behalf, sent from the Father, to remind them of His teachings.

The Holy Spirit then draws my attention to the cyclical nature of the LORD. Once one thing dies, something rises in its place. As Jesus ascends upward, the LORD will send the Holy Spirit down to help carry out the next cycle of teachings for generations to come. In fact, there is a constant balance, just as the universe was created in a cyclical nature, with many outliers all connected to one source. Everything moving around the unseen, nothing lost, and nothing strays, all in unison, even with the chaotic points happening in between.

This power is the pure magnitude of our God. We must understand that he is always with us. He is there as promised by Jesus. We are not alone, and since he lives inside of us, we just need to open up the source of our power through Christ Jesus to access your infinite wisdom for the day.

I have a question for the Holy Spirit, so I move to Step 5.

Step 5: Ask. Seek

The requests/questions that came to mind are:

  • Holy Spirit, why is it that today, so many people don’t believe we have the power to access the Holy Spirit and walk with Jesus daily, performing miracles and wonders like in the days of the disciples?

Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive

Here is the answer I received:

“The Tree of Knowledge was never supposed to be eaten. Once it was partaken of, you became prisoners of your own analytical minds. Good was amplified; however, doubt, fear, and hatred were amplified as well. You were never meant to live in fear of surviving the place you inhabit now. You were meant to have dominion over this place. If the enemy can make you think that you are not worthy in this world, then you will focus on reacting to him and his schemes, which is not my way. I have already given you everything you need and more. Speak my word, and demons tremble. They know their place, but do you? I am on the throne, so tell people, as I bless you, who told you the truth. Just like the snake deceived Eve and told her lies in the garden, I asked Adam, “Who told you you were naked?!” People will ask as you have wisdom beyond understanding, including your own understanding, ‘Who told you?!’ Do not try to convince anyone, but through love, say my truth, and I will do the rest. Stay obedient and continue to pull from the Helper, and I will keep you on the path to my Father's house, which I have gone before you to prepare a room for you inside. If it wasn’t true, would I have told you? (John 14:2)”

Step 7: Pray. Confirm

Heavenly Father, I come to you through the name of Jesus.

I ask that I remain constant in you and trust the Helper in which you send, which will bring to my remembrance your teachings.

Let me remain humble and loving in all I do, no matter what the world throws at me or temps me with.

Help me find comfort during difficult times, knowing that you are on the throne and your cyclical nature and power are keeping me and everything in the cosmos in order and in unison.

We have no conflict in this world unless we compete for things that are of no significance to you and do not measure up to anything you have waiting for us in our future.

I ask for peace on this day for anyone reading this, and seal this prayer with the precious blood of Jesus - Amen!

Conclusion:

Friends, open up your mind, body, and spirit to the Holy Spirit so the LORD can guide you as if Jesus were right beside you in the physical.

Take a moment today to understand that there is a power within the name of Jesus, and as we call upon Him, he will send the Holy Spirit on his behalf, as ordained by the Father, to remember the things he spoke.

Let's focus on the truth instead of carrying out the lies, which were never supposed to be a part of our knowledge.

Most of all, let us know that there is peace in the fact that the LORD has prepared a way for us in our Father's house, and if it weren't true, Jesus would have told us.

God bless you. See you soon!
