Proverbs 18:10 - The Conduit
Step 1: Pray. Select.
Today, as I sit quietly contemplating where the Holy Spirit will lead me, the words ‘great is your name’ come to mind.
I think of the power of the name of the LORD. What is it about calling out to Jesus that brings us to our knees? That causes even the most horrific situations not to seem so bad. Brings peace when there shouldn’t be peace in the middle of chaos.
As I searched for my scripture today, I came across Proverbs 18:10.
This was the perfect place to start my journey today. So, I moved to STEP 2.
Step 2: Write. Read. Circle
After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:
The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.
Step 3: Re-Write
With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here are the personalized sentence(s) that came alive in my heart.
Jennifer, the LORD is a strong tower; run to it and are safe.
If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.
Step 4: Visualize
I close my eyes and visualize my sentence for today. I see myself as a young girl, maybe in my early teens, running while being chased.
It is cloudy, and a thunderstorm looms overhead.
I can only see myself from the back. I cannot see my own face. My breath is labored from running as fast as I can to get away from whatever is chasing me. I look around to see where I am running to, as the land seems barren, and there is no sign of captivity in sight.
Just then, I notice a massive electrical tower ahead. I think of my scripture, and this must be a mistake. I know from scripture that a tower is usually a large structure used to hide or seek safety, typically made of wood and stone. Some have many rooms. An electrical tower has none of these things. I cannot run to this tower to seek shelter as I am completely exposed, and since the sky seems stormy, thunder could strike at any minute, causing it to be a major conduit for lightning.
Why would the LORD call me to such a dangerous place to seek shelter from whatever is hunting me?
I don’t have time to stop running since I know something is gaining on me. And since I can’t see anything else in sight, I do as I am instructed. I continue running towards the tower.
As I get closer, just past the tower, I notice another structure coming into view. It is a tiny, dark wooden house, and the door is open. It lay slightly past the electrical tower. It is essential for me to keep running straight and not veer to the right or left but to run past or even through the electric tower to reach the wooden house for shelter.
Had I not listened to the LORD and followed his instruction to seek the electrical tower, I would never been able to see the house just beyond the tower and would have remained running, exposed with no shelter in sight in the barren land as sitting prey.
Something now forms in the sky. It is the building of a massive swirling storm about to come crashing down like a tsunami wave landing on a beach with the power of everything it has gathered along the way, causing mass destruction.
I am now approaching the tower. I have to decide to run around it, but the Holy Spirit tells me to run through it despite knowing that it is the most hazardous thing to do. If lightning strikes while I am inside the tower, the energy will flow downward, frying me as it takes the electricity from the sky and guides it into the Earth to dissipate. I am scared, but the LORD’s voice has never steered me wrong. Even at this moment, he had a place for me amid this storm.
I run faster and decide to go through. My heart is pounding, and I feel like my legs are going to give out from running for so long. But this is no time to stop now!
I enter the center of the tower, and the clouds above recoil back as they prepare to launch a gigantic bolt of lightning. I can hear the power and run even faster without looking back. I finally exit the tower and run straight to the house for shelter.
Just as I enter the open door of the house, I turn to close it, and a massive lighting bolt hits the top of the electrical tower. The energy is immense as I see the light exude outward from the metal frame as it travels downward into the Earth. The LORD has saved me. It doesn’t matter what was hunting me. The LORD is my conduit to guide me and will take whatever pain was meant for me and send it straight back to the pit of hell where it belongs.
This is what Jesus did on the cross. Whatever torment or ill will be intended for me in my life while on this Earth, Jesus saved me from an eternity of pain. What a reminder to never, even for a moment, forget that sacrifice.
I have a question for the Holy Spirit, so I move to Step 5.
Step 5: Ask. Seek
The requests/questions that came to mind are:
Holy Spirit, what was hunting me?
Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive
Here is the answer I received:
“Sometimes you need to let go and let God. There could be a multitude of things that were hunting you. How many things in a day do you fear? The important thing is even in your fear, anxiety, and doubt, guess who showed up for you? He showed up despite your lack of prayer at the moment. He showed up and was already waiting for you when you were seeking, and nothing else was to be found. He showed up in a way where you had no choice but to credit him for his perfect timing and unconventional ways. He showed up so you could testify that this vision did not make sense, but it did once he revealed the safe house just beyond the tower. He made something transparent for you to see and run through, rather than go around which the enemy would have surely devoured you. Pick your poison; your fears are great, but his love is greater. You are made to rely on him, so even when your vision didn’t make sense, you knew deep down that your Father would never harm you. So you ran faster than ever down the path of the straight and narrow, and in his perfect timing, he saved your soul. You are HIS. Do not forget that. You were bought with a price. Your Father loves you and will not harm you. He will teach you even in the most stressful moments, but in the end, he is who he says he is, and he is counting on you to testify and glorify his name for the good of many. How do you think the Bible came into existence. He has a plan. He will give you a testimony. Keep running towards him even when it doesn’t make sense. Remember, he is always with you.”
Step 7: Pray. Confirm
Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus.
You have humbled me today as I realize just how strategic You are, Lord. I am in awe at my vision as you always provide a way in the wilderness. Your ways are clearly not my ways, but they are righteous and good. Let me never stray from your instruction and lean into you at all times.
Thank you for providing safety for me. I am so grateful for your guidance and clarity, even when I have doubt or sin in my life. It is comforting to know that you are always in front of me, waiting for me with an answer.
In Jesus' mighty name, I pray and seal this prayer with the blood of Jesus - Amen.

Conclusion:
Friends, this is a massive lesson in trust: sometimes, when we go through life's tests and are running scared, with no safe way in sight, the Lord always has a solution.
It shows me that no matter what the circumstances may look like, listen to the Holy Spirit because you never know when your safe house is just beyond where you can see. Even if it looks like danger ahead.
Jesus was our conduit to sacrifice himself to avoid spending our lives in suffering and torment for eternity. Let’s honor him today with our gratitude and recognition of the true sacrifice he has made.
Great is his name! The name above all names. The mighty name of Jesus! He will make a way, even when it appears there is no way.
God bless you. See you soon!
