Nahum 1:7 - He Is The Only Stronghold You Need
Step 1: Pray. Select.
This morning, friends, I am feeling withered away and overwhelmed at the thought of some upcoming challenges I may face. I sat down with a heavy heart and asked the Holy Spirit for help. I really need him today.
As I dove into the word for guidance, I came across Nahum 1:7.
This is where we begin our journey today, friends.
Step 2: Write. Read. Circle
After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:
Nahum 1:7 - The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.
Step 3: Re-Write
With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart.
Jennifer, the LORD is a stronghold in trouble; He knows who trust in Him.
If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.
Step 4: Visualize
As I meditate on the sentence the Holy Spirit gave today, I picture a tree in the middle of a strong, rushing river. As I watch the tree, I wonder if it will eventually be worn away and fall down, only to be thrashed to and fro as it succumbs to the unpredictable elements downriver.
What was once a safe place to be rooted has now become a place withering away slowly until the tree eventually might eventually give in and collapse.
The Holy Spirit tells me this tree is different from the others.
It was planted in God's thoughts and mind thousands of years ago, before humanity ever existed. He tells me that I cannot see that the tree completely trusts the LORD, and where it was planted to set its roots. It welcomes the rushing water since it is rooted deeply in the LORD. It knows it is safe and will always be. The majestic top that reaches high to the sky, filled with lush leaves and strong branches, which I can see with my eyes above the earth’s surface, and the trunk, which is almost as wide as the river, is only a tenth of the root system it has established underground.
Since the tree is completely confident in its place, no matter what the elements on the surface or the future might bring, the LORD and the tree have a very special, intimate relationship. No person or creature on this earth can break that bond.
A question arises, so I move to Step 5.
Step 5: Ask. Seek
The requests/questions that came to mind are:
Holy Spirit, how do I know where I am planted is where I am supposed to be?
Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive
Here is the answer I received:
“You know the LORD deep inside your soul. You always have. You go where he tells you and trust he will provide. It is normal to have a moment of weakness about your future, but come back to Him, and don’t wander too far, since you can never see or know what he knows. He knows your end before your beginning. Push harder into the ground. Stretch deep into his foundation where he planted you. Enjoy the air and the beauty of the world from above, even the chaos and turmoil, because you have joy in knowing that beneath the surface, you were planted on the rock, which will see you through any and all storms ahead. The rock is your stronghold, hold tight, wrap yourself around it, for the weight of its glory surpasses all things.”
Step 7: Pray. Confirm
Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of your son Christ Jesus.
Thank you for being my rock in times of chaos or turmoil. Let me not forget the bond we have—an intimate relationship bound in eternity. Thank you for securing me through elements that might make me shift otherwise. Thank you for being my stronghold. Let me trust where you plant me, even if I cannot see the outcome or predict the storms ahead. Let me focus on my roots, which are in you—the great I AM—and know you are who you say you are.
Please let those praying for me receive divine revelation and speak to me to help guide me alongside you. For we are not meant to walk this life alone.
I seal this prayer with the precious blood of Jesus - Amen!

Be encouraged that God knew you and thought of where he planted you before humanity existed.
God bless you today! See you soon.
