Isaiah 30:21 - He Is Waiting On You
Step 1: Pray. Select.
This morning I went for a long walk before sitting down to write. As I walked, I thought about why we get frozen with fear when opportunities arise that push us out of our comfort zone.
When I got home, I settled into my time with the LORD and researched what scripture pertains to taking one step at a time with the LORD’s provision. I came across Isaiah 30:21, which seemed to hit the mark for today.
This is where I began my journey today, friends.
Step 2: Write. Read. Circle
After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:
Isaiah 30:21 - Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it, ”Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.
Step 3: Re-Write
With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart.
Jennifer, your ears shall hear, “walk in it, turn to the right, turn to the left.”
If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.
Step 4: Visualize
I close my eyes and meditate on the words I received from the Holy Spirit today. I imagine myself standing at the edge of a black void. I cannot see anything or anyone ahead or in any direction as I turn my head and look around.
I first reach out my hands to see if there is anything in front of me that I can feel or touch to orient myself. But there is nothing. I know I am supposed to move, but how can I when I can’t see in any direction? What if I stand on the edge of a cliff, and if I step forward, will I fall off? The same applies if I step backward.
I start to feel slightly frozen with fear. I begin to breathe more rapidly as I grow increasingly anxious about how to get out of this place.
I decided to close my eyes and focus on slowing my breathing. I thought about the breath of the Holy Spirit. Maybe I could fill my body with the breath of God, knowing he is with me even in this place. Then I could calm down.
Just then, a voice whispers, “Just move.”
I realize that the Holy Spirit wants me to take a step, even if it is wrong—just move. He tells me that no matter what direction I take, God loves me and will catch me if I fall, correct my footsteps, and protect me through His grace.
Recently, I have been so focused on what the LORD is calling me to do, but now he asks me to make a decision, and he will correct my path. The important thing he wants me to learn is to move in faith but remain obedient to his instruction. Sometimes, you must move to activate faith, which pleases the divine.
I have a question for the Holy Spirit, so I move to Step 5.
Step 5: Ask. Seek
The requests/questions that came to mind are:
Holy Spirit, why would God put me in such a dark place where I am scared to move?
Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive
Here is the answer I received:
“He didn’t. You put yourself there. You didn’t get the overnight; it took years to conjure up this place in your mind. But all you have to do is take a step in any direction to turn on the light. Take a step, and if you fall, he will catch you. Stop trying to see in the dark, and go forward trusting that no matter which direction you travel, you will be one step closer to the light. One step closer to him, trusting he will be there for you.”
Step 7: Pray. Confirm
Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of your son Jesus.
I thank you for graciously allowing me to take steps in faith, knowing you will gently correct my path. If I move in the wrong direction, thank you for not condemning my choices, but for being a voice of encouragement on the journey.
I trust your ways, and if in this season you strengthen your trust in me, no matter where I go, I will look for you to check in and hear your voice every step of the way. I will go forward boldly as you ask and be strong and courageous like Joshua, so I can go forward and possess the land you have waiting for me. Please help me continue to humbly build and honor you always in a way that is pleasing to you.
I seal this prayer with the precious blood of Jesus - Amen!

Conclusion:
Friends, the LORD wants us to grow our faith. We need to trust that we have a good Father who will lovingly correct our way, no matter which way we go. Sometimes we can wait too long for perfect circumstances, situations, and opportunities to come, leaving us frozen in fear and in bondage to the spirit of perfectionism. Sometimes you are waiting on the LORD in a season where He is waiting on you.
God bless you! See you soon.
