2 Peter 3:8 - You Are A Thousand Years In The Making

Step 1: Pray. Select.

Today, I was curious about what the Bible says about receiving a glimpse or a feeling of being in alignment with the LORD—divine timing fulfilling prophecy, if you will.

As I searched for scriptures to help me understand if our inclinations are worth noting, or just fleeting moments, a very poignant scripture crossed my path on my search. That scripture was 2 Peter 3:8.

This is where I began my journey today, friends.

Step 2: Write. Read. Circle

After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:

2 Peter 3:8 - But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Step 3: Re-Write

With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart.

  • Jennifer, with the LORD one day is a thousand years.

If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.

Step 4: Visualize

As I meditate on the words of the Holy Spirit today, I think about the LORD's planning and strategy. As I write at this very moment, I marvel at the fact that he is activating plans that may have taken a thousand years to come to fruition.

When I consider the magnitude of the day's importance, with a thousand years of planning behind each moment, I realize everything I do, say, or even every breath I take, which gives life to my body, was carefully orchestrated and made with love by His will.

Suddenly, I am overwhelmed with the value of a day and what it can bring. I feel excited and invigorated, and do not want to take even a moment for granted. 1 Corinthians 13:12 - For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know as I also am known.

I now picture myself looking in a mirror, but my reflection is dim. There is a moment when a light shines on me, and I am bright, and my reflection is clear and strong. I am seen, and all I do is seen and loved by my Father. I feel beautiful and like I have arrived at a moment of acceptance and surrender to His will.

As I leave the mirror to focus on my day ahead, I go in confidence since I am loved and receive the fact that he has thought of me for thousands of years, long before I can even fathom. He is proud that I trust what he shows me and lays in my path for my life. I just need to walk out my Father's vision for me on this day, which will honor Him in all I do. A day that has traveled for a thousand years to get to me right now. Thank you, Father.

I have a question for the Holy Spirit, so I move to Step 5.

Step 5: Ask. Seek

The requests/questions that came to mind are:

  • Holy Spirit, how can I keep this excitement for the day even if the day goes badly?

Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive

Here is the answer I received:

“Focus on the weight of the planning. If the Lord put you there, remember He works all things for His good. If you have a bad day, remember, tomorrow there are a thousand years of planning on how to make it turn towards His good. Think of a large ship that needs to change course. If God changes the direction even slightly, a thousand years ago, through a ripple effect over time, imagine the impact it is having now, in this very moment that you are living today. So if a day is bad, give it to Him and He can turn the next day around in the blink of an eye, but through miles and miles of planning over thousands of years."

Step 7: Pray. Confirm

Heavenly Father, I come to you through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for the love you have shown me this morning, to know that I am important and my day is a result of an impact the Lord planned for me thousands of years ago. I now have a new level of value, importance, and purpose since I know you have good plans for me, plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future. Let me not take one moment for granted, as that moment was a thousand years in the making.

I seal this prayer with the blood of Jesus. Amen.

Conclusion:

Friends, today, have confidence that you are not an accident. You were thought about, loved, and ordained to be precisely who you are at exactly this moment, which was planned a thousand years ago. Remember, if you are having a bad day, if you have faith, tomorrow, the Lord will course-correct your life if you receive the love and new direction that He has for you, that traveled from far and wide to reach you.

God bless you! See you soon.
