Acts 2:2 -Prepare For Suddenly
Step 1: Pray. Select.
This morning was relatively peaceful, with the sun shining brightly, as it does almost every morning in the desert.
As I began my prayer time, the words that came to mind extremely clearly were, "A sound above all others."
When I looked up various Bible verses regarding sounds in the Bible, I came across the one that the Holy Spirit put on my heart today.
Let's begin the journey!
Step 2: Write. Read. Circle
Acts 2:2 - And suddenly, there came a sound from Heaven, as of a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:
Suddenly
A Mighty Rushing Wind
Filled The Whole House
Step 3: Re-Write
Adding my name to the front and with a focus on the words that stood out, here is the sentence(s) I came up with for today:
Jennifer, suddenly a mighty rushing wind filled the whole house.
Step 4: Visualize
As I read this sentence, I picture the Holy Spirit excitedly delivering some good news this morning. My heart feels filled with hope and expectation.
I think about how this "sound" came down from Heaven almost like lightning. The words say, "Suddenly…like a rushing wind." When I hear this it insinuates no time for preparation. It didn't ask; it blew in and took over.
If you know a flood is coming, you will likely clear out your home, taking only what is important and leaving the rest behind. You would not take clutter with you. But, Holy Spirit is daring me to take things one step deeper.
When you ask people what they grab when they have to evacuate for any natural disaster, they usually grab family photos, financial records, art, or memorabilia that they deem valuable. You don't usually hear them say coffee table, dining room set, sofa, etc.
But if I knew inside my heart I had an opportunity to leave everything behind only to be filled up by the Holy Spirit and his infinite wisdom from God going forward, I would leave everything behind because, with God's wisdom, love, and insight, I could rebuild anytime, anywhere. Let the wind tear everything apart; with God, I can rebuild.
How am I preparing if God bestows anointing oil over my life right now? If God came suddenly, without warning, would I be ready for him?
I don't know about you, friends, but I want to be prepared for the LORD to strike me and my house anytime! He is welcome here.
Step 5: Ask. Seek
The main question(s) that came to mind were:
Holy Spirit, how can I make more room for the LORD to fill me up?
Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive
"When you hear this word, it is critical to follow his instruction. Do not do what you think. Pray, then proceed. Pray, then proceed. This is a practical way to live since it allows you to go forward with your duties and responsibilities since you must exist in this world you are in; however, if you pray, then proceed; God will always guide your footsteps. He is in everything you do so acknowledge your Father along the way, heed his warnings, and carry out his instructions. He wants what is best for you, so go to him with all he has given you. If the wisest instruction always lies ahead, why must you pack anything from the past for where you are going? Once this becomes your new flesh, in line following the spirit, he will be able to strike down and give you the gifts of the spirit. When he does, just as he came, suddenly, your life will suddenly never be the same. Remember, further faster but only with God."
Step 7: Pray. Confirm
Heavenly Father, let me get in order so you can bless me with the wisdom beyond understanding to build a life that glorifies you. Let me get out of your way so you can direct my path. I pray for your sudden movement when I can withstand the storm's wind. Prepare me now! Fill me every day, and let me remain obedient to your will.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I seal this prayer - Amen!
