Habakkuk 2:3 - The Vision Will Not Lie

Step 1: Pray. Select.

As I found a quiet place outside to start my prayer time, the Holy Spirit was very intentional about focusing on God’s timing. So I researched a few scriptures based on the theme and came across Habakkuk 2:3.

This is where I began my journey today, friends.

Step 2: Write. Read. Circle

After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:

Habakkuk 2:3 - For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

Step 3: Re-Write

With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart.

  • Jennifer, the vision for an appointed time; will not lie. Wait for it, it will surely come.

If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.

Step 4: Visualize

As I mediate on the sentence the Holy Spirit has provided today, he sifts through my life experiences in my mind. I feel like I am watching a high-speed slideshow. So many images come to mind.

As I witness my life’s many milestones flying by, I think about all the promises God placed on my heart and how he always provided for every need in every moment. But as I look at each scenario, I start to notice that many of these memories were made through my own desires and ambitions to get me out of situations that were less than ideal growing up. In fact, while I don’t regret anything I have experienced in life, I am also noticing that a lot of these seasons were born out of pure survival.

A question comes to mind.

Have I ever known a time or season when I wasn’t in survival mode? Had there ever been a time in my life when I actually sat down and pondered why God created me and my gifts and asked Him what vision he has for my life? God specifically tells us we are to have a more abundant life. So, what does that look like according to his vision for me?

Truthfully, I have never written down my dreams from a place of peace. I don’t know if I have ever written down my dreams and believed they would actually come true. Earlier, Habakkuk 2:2 instructs the reader to “Write the vision, And make it plain on tablets…”

So, friends, I ask you to write a vision or a dream and make it simple. Write from a pure place, and I will do the same. But whatever we do, let’s write from a place of peace, unadulterated joy, and creation. What is something we can look forward to growing into that is authentically you! Designed and created by the LORD and you together to give you life and life more abundantly.

A question arises, so I move to Step 5.

Step 5: Ask. Seek

The requests/questions that came to mind are:

  • Holy Spirit, what does a vision of pure creation look like instead of merely providing a way out of a situation you have gotten yourself into?

Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive

Here is the answer I received:

“Everyone has a place inside where time stops. Tap into that place and see what the LORD shows you. As the scripture says in Habakkuk 2:2 - Write the vision And make it plain. This vision will not lie because you are not lying to yourself anymore. You are not coveting or chasing the things of this world. You need to know who you are inside, who you belong to, and who created you. You were bought with a price. There is value to you and your unique gifts. Let God determine the blessing attached to your gift. Your assignment is to write it down right now, and he will take it from there."

Step 7: Pray. Confirm

Heavenly Father, I come to you through your son Jesus.

Today, let me go to a place of peace to write down my goals from a place of honesty and purity, which are in alignment with you. Let me not worry about the results, but let me wait upon you and trust that when I write down the vision and my prayer has gone up, you will hear me and see my heart. Then you will deliver the vision to me in its appointed time and proper season.

I pray this in Jesus' name - Amen!

Conclusion:

Friends, let’s dare to dream today.

Take your vision and write it down. But please, do not covet what the world shows you.

Dig deep within the perfect creation that you are, and ask the LORD to help you see what brings Him, and you joy, peace, and security. Ask him to show you how you can use your gifts that you were perfectly made to use. Then write it down and make it plain!

Let’s wake up to who God wants us to be and live a life more abundant than we could ever imagine.

God bless you today! See you soon.
