Psalm 107:29-30 - On The Other Side Of The Storm
Step 1: Pray. Select.
As I began my prayer time this morning, the Holy Spirit prompted me to examine various scriptures that focus on the theme of storms as they are referenced in the Bible.
I read through numerous scriptures, but Psalm 107:29-30 called out to me clearly above the rest. This was my daily bread for today.
Here is where I began my journey, friends. So I move to STEP 2.
Step 2: Write. Read. Circle
After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:
He calms the storm,
So that its waves are still.
Then they are glad because they are quiet;
So He guides them to their desired haven.
Step 3: Re-Write
With a focus on the words I circled that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart.
Jennifer, He calms waves, He guides to desired haven.
If you are doing this alongside me today, add your name in front of your unique sentence so the Lord can speak directly to you.
Step 4: Visualize
As I meditate on my scripture and sentence for today, the Holy Spirit gives me a vision of myself lying inside a cabin on a boat, on a bunk. I believe I've been up all night, and I'm exhausted. I'm scared to step outside my bunk because I have just survived the most horrific storm. But now everything is still, and there's no sign of movement outside. It's just quiet and peaceful.
I hear someone calling me from outside the cabin. But that is impossible since I'm supposed to be the only one on this boat.
The voice is peaceful and sounds familiar, so I decide to get up and go investigate who is calling my name.
As I surface from the cabin and step outside into the bow, I don't see anyone. I hear the voice again call, ‘Jennifer,’ my name. I still don't see anyone.
The Holy Spirit tells me that now that I have pulled through this storm, I can clearly hear God calling me. There are no distractions, just pure focus on him calling my name. The Holy Spirit says to me to call on the Lord on this day, and he will guide me, as the scripture says, to a desired haven.
I have a question for the Holy Spirit, so I move to Step 5.
Step 5: Ask. Seek
The requests/questions that came to mind are:
Holy Spirit, I am excited about this news; however, I feel a bit lost and unsure of what my desired haven even looks like anymore. Please help me understand what’s next or how to restore my hope today.
Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive
Here is the answer I received:
“Do not be dismayed, for I am with you. Do not give up, for surely you will die at sea. You must get up and try to find clarity, which is in me. I am not a God of confusion. Take this vision of being safe upon still waters that I have given you this morning. Do you not believe that I have brought you through the storm for no reason? I am not a God of confusion. You are on the other side. Look for the sun and my rays of light that shine through the clouds to guide you. You must stay with me a little longer since your victory of stepping into the promised land is just beyond the clouds. While the storm has passed, the remnants of the fog still linger. The fog will clear, and soon you will see that while the storm tossed you to and fro, you landed on course. You are not lost. You just can't see your way yet. I have found you. You are mine. I would never let my sheep wander too far. So rest and be still in whatever comes today, and know I am with you. You will be good. If it weren't true, I would not have told you. Let it be well with your soul. Believe your dawn is just beyond the horizon.”
Step 7: Pray. Confirm
Heavenly Father, I come to you through my Lord and Savior Jesus the Messiah.
Help me not to lose faith in my journey. Let my eyes be peeled for your rays of hope as the fog lifts. Give me my daily bread to sustain me while I am still, and trust you will send the ravens to provide for my needs in the valley. Let me not be afraid, for you are with me.
In the mighty name of Jesus - Amen!

Conclusion:
Friends, though we may not be able to see the Promised Land today, know that God is still on the throne, and he will clear a path for us to follow, eventually landing in our desired haven.
Tell fear to take a back seat today, because the storm is behind us. There is only harvest ahead. God's promises are Yes and Amen.
So don't lose faith even if you can't see your way quite yet. He did not bring you through the storm by accident. He has a purpose that he needs to fulfill within you and will finish it until the day of Christ Jesus.
God bless you. See you soon!
